Plastic surgery recovery time

Recovery time and plastic surgery

A typical plastic surgery involves more of skin than flesh and it is true that the incisions are not made deep. The aim is reconstruction and sometimes correction and there is minimum incision involved. Recovery time depends on the type of surgery which you will undergo. Some are simple and the risks of complications are minimal; you will be released soon after the surgery. Others are much more complicated and might involve some amount of blood loss particularly in case of accidents. Therefore such surgeries will take more time to heal and the recovery time automatically increases. Therefore the recovery time is a prolonged affair involving at least a few weeks.

What do you expect after a surgery?

Surgery is a procedure which is done to help you out and therefore you have to compromise on some things in life. Others come secondary when you are recovering from a plastic surgery. The first few days involves some medications and rest. Things start to come back to normal pretty soon after the initial few days.

The first few days have to be followed as per instructions from the physicians and the surgeon. It is a crucial period.

A week after surgery

A week will pass by pretty fast and you will feel that you have recovered a lot after the plastic surgery. You start to feel better and your doctor advices you to get back to your daily routine slowly. The scar marks will be visible during this period but will not be as deep as it was initially. You need not worry about the scars since they begin to fade away from this period.

Ointments can be applied to remove scars from your operated zone. You can even consult a dermatologist regarding this matter. The dermatologist can guide you through certain procedures which will help you to get rid off the scars easily. The treatment has to be prolonged otherwise the results will not be good.

You will expect things to get back to normal after the first week and it happens so in most of the cases. However if you have any complications you have to rush to the physician immediately. Any situation should not be neglected under any circumstances.

A month after the surgery

After a month from the surgery you are expected to heal completely and you should be able lead a normal life by then. If that is not the case then a specialist should be consulted since it would be an abnormal situation. There is no need to panic since the recovery time differs from a week to a few months in some cases.

The lifestyle which you lead often determines the recovery time and if you lead a healthy one then you will get well soon. Others who have sedentary lifestyle will face recovery problems but such problems can be negated with proper counseling.

Complete recovery

After recovering completely stop all medications and forget about the plastic surgery and just continue with your normal life.
